What is Population Education? Population Education is a program with a strong focus on curriculum development and professional development for K-12 teachers. Population Education focuses on a variety of human population issues.
The program is cross-curricular in many disciplines. In the lesson presentations I watched, I noted geography, economics, ecology, math, and history. The program encourages critical thinking on a global perspective, and it challenges us to think about how humans have shaped our planet. The program takes challenging subjects and presents them in a collaborative and cooperative manner. The materials are simple, yet highly effective. The materials are classroom adaptable and the stats are current. I really appreciated the graphing section. This application would be student-centred approach to introducing graphing skills at a young age. Population Education is definitely a leader of K-12 curriculum for student learning and for teachers to effectively teach about the effects of human population trends. I think that this education is one of the best ways to introduce the diverse effects that we have on our environments and our societies. For more information, visit www.populationeducation.org
